Tucows’ shared hosting cusomer assets acquired by Hostopia
Hostopia, and Tucows declared that they have agreed to sign an acquisition agreement for Tucows’ shared hosting customer assets. This agreement covers 14,000 customer accounts of Domain Direct, NetIdentity and ItsYourDomain. Tucows provides Internet services to over 7,000 web hosts, ISPs and other providers of Internet services globally. The company manages over seven million domains. Hostopia offers web solutions that help small to medium-sized businesses to build an online presence.
Hostopia will pay Tucows $1.6 million in cash. The company will pay 20% on signing the agreement and the rest upon the closing of the transaction, which is going to take place on May 15. The migration of these accounts to Hostopia’s unified operating platform plans to be completed by July. Hostopia will continue providing managed services under the brand name: Domain Direct. The accounts involved in the transaction will continue to be served under the familiar.
This is the second acquisition by Hostopia in two weeks. Last week, the company announced that it agreed to purchase Luxomovera’s, Uplinkearth operator, customer assets with 12,500 small business customers.
