Shared and dedicated hosting provider iWeb participates in Shutdown Day 2008
iWeb, a shared and dedicated hosting provider declared that it will support Shutdown Day 2008. Shutdown Day is a candidate of one of the biggest global experiments ever attempted on the Internet. This Quebec based non-profit organization tries to get as many people as possible not to use their computers on May 3 for the whole day. Shutdown Day’s goal is to find out how many participants they can get together, figure out a number and observe the consequences of this project.
On this special day, iWeb will keep its web hosting services on and make sure that everything works properly. The company is aware of the purpose of the project and happy to do what it can even though there is a clear contradiction between the company’s business idea and Shutdown’s project idea.
