Dedicated hosting provider NaviSite provides Sun SaaS Program
NaviSite, a dedicated hosting provider, declared a new partnership with Sun Microsystems to offer the Solaris On Demand program. With this program, NaviSite will serve independent software vendors, allowing them easily developing and delivering their software applications in an on-demand platform hosted and backed by NaviSite, using Sun products and technologies. The program also enables ISVs to convert their existing applications to a SaaS model, enabling them to move from a traditional licensing structure to one where their applications will be available on-demand without the use of a multi-tenant application platform. ISVs will benefit developing software applications cost-effectively that meet the availability, security and scalability needs of their own customers.
According to Gartner Group’s report, SaaS has been growing constantly in demand and its expected growth rate through 2011 is 22%. The report highlights that SaaS is a good match for small to medium-sized Small businesses that have low resources to convert their applications to complement their existing legacy systems.
