Dedicated hosting provider Iomart hosts seminar for Eco-friendly data centers

British dedicated hosting provider Iomart announced that it will host a seminar at Wembley Stadium on June 25th. The event’s goal is to attract industry’s attention on environmental damage caused by datacenters. The event is free for anyone and aims to be informative. However, places are limited and participants need to register by June 19th.

Iomart with four state-of-the-art data centers in the UK, asked some of the experts in the sector to talk about how the data center industry can make its impact on the environment less severe. The company highlights that data center industry needs to be aware of its significant impact on the environment. The company points out that supplying power and cooling data centers require a lot of energy that signifies carbon footprints are heavy. It adds that an average data center uses as much electricity as 4000 homes and that data centers generate between 100 million and 150m tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

Among speakers in this event, there are Victor Smith, enterprise technologist from Dell, Steve Wallage, CEO of data center analysts Broad Group, Josh Boulton from Green IT magazine and Stuart Paul, the director of data center operations from Iomart.
