Dedicated hosting firm SoftLayer launches Washington, D.C. data center
SoftLayer, a dedicated hosting company, announced the opening of its newest data center in Washington DC. This expansion brings additional 10,000 server capacity increasing the total capacity to 45,000 servers. The new data center connects directly to its data centers in Dallas and Seattle. The company claims that the new data center has one of the highest concentrations of fiber connectivity in the USA, enabling them and their customers multiple network options and high class performance.
SoftLayer Washington D.C. is 7 miles away from Dulles International Airport in a facility designed to full Tier IV standards. Its support staff work 24×7 and multiple security protocols check access to the building. Moreover, the facility provides infrastructure features:

SoftLayer has already started pre-selling servers in DC data center to current customers, receiving an excessive demand causing a high backlog of server requests. This new data center is the third one the company has opened in the last five months.
