Wachovia Capital Partners declared that it has acquired HostMySite. The company states that HostMySite is a leading hosting provider, delivering managed hosting, dedicated hosting, virtual private servers, and shared hosting. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
HostMySite.com, founded in 1997 provides service With over 250 employees, 4,000 servers and state of the art datacenter facilities. Wachovia Capital Partners is a private equity investing firm. It is a part of Wachovia Corporation, which is the fourth largest bank holding company in the USA.

LeaseWeb, dedicated hosting provider increased its hosting network from 160 Gbps to 210 Gbps. The company’s goal is to keep having twice as much capacity available as the bandwidth used by clients with their web sites.
The company achieves its goal by obtaining new port capacity from telecom carriers (transit traffic) and an internet exchange (peering). Leaseweb added total of 50 Gbps of port capacity. It has bought 10 Gigabits of additional port capacity from Tata Telecommunications and Global Crossing. It has purchased an additional 20 Gigabits of port capacity from TeliaSonera. The company has bought 10 Gigabits of new port capacity from the London Internet Exchange (LINX), for additional peering capability.

Dedicated hosting company The Planet’s H1 data center in Houston, Texas, exploded on Saturday. Approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers were affected.
The explosion broke down three walls of electrical equipment room. Along with the fire, it damaged the underground cabling that supplies power for the first floor of the facility. Neither injuries, nor any server damage were reported. The company has kept in touch with its customers via its forum and customer portal.
After officials inspection, company restored power to the facility. It immediately turned on the generators to supply power on the second floor. 90% of the second floor servers were back on after more than 40 hours of troubleshooting. Technicians tries to manually restore the remaining 10%, as well as restore power to the first floor. Many customer still feels upset by the period of time that recovery process took, leaving comments on forums.

The Planet, one of the biggest dedicated hosting provider declared that it calls Internet product developer Directi a member of its affiliate program. Directi with more than 7,000 web hosting partners is The Planet’s largest affiliate to day. Directi’s businesses include ResellerClub, LogicBoxes WebHosting.info, and publicdomainregistry.com.
The Planet’s affiliate program, launched this January, gives partners the opportunity to receive a one-time 65% commission for each new dedicated customer referred to The Planet, after that customer’s third month. The company points out that its current commission range is between $44 and $1,700. It adds that the average commission is $139.62 per sale.
