According to Web analytics firm Netcraft, managed dedicated hosting provider INetU is the most reliable hosting site for May 2008. INetU was the most reliable hosting company website in March, as well. However, last month, it held the third position.
INetU is followed by Aplus.Net, New York Internet, Rackspace and Go Daddy. Four of top 10 companies use Linux on their main sites. Three of the others run FreeBSD and another uses Windows Server 2003.
INetU, established in 1996, asserts a 100% uptime service level. Its managed services include MySQL and MS SQL database clusters, Exchange servers, virtualization and firewalls. The company was one of the first web hosting companies that started offering Windows Server 2008 hosting.
Netcraft states that each month, the response times of 50 leading hosting providers’ web sites are calculated and posted. The measurements are made at 15-minute intervals from different points around the Internet. Average values are calculated over the immediately preceding 24-hour period.

With the decision by parent company, InterWeb Media Inc., dedicated hosting providers Gogax and Exist Hosting have agreed to a merger. The Company stated that the merger’s goal was to consolidate both companies and re-brand the existhosting.com service on the new gogax.com infrastructure. The company has spent big amount of money and effort for future benefits of the gogax.com infrastructure.
The company started to migrate Exist’s hosting servers and systems into the new Gogax platform and and plans to finish in two months. Gogax maintains the latest hosting technologies, including virtualization, clustered technology, and network attached storage.

British dedicated hosting provider Iomart announced that it will host a seminar at Wembley Stadium on June 25th. The event’s goal is to attract industry’s attention on environmental damage caused by datacenters. The event is free for anyone and aims to be informative. It adds that an average data center uses as much electricity as 4000 homes and that data centers generate between 100 million and 150m tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

OLM.net, a dedicated hosting provider, declared that it adds Keyboard Video Mouse over Internet Protocol (IP-KVM) service. With the latest arrangements, the company offers its clients complete access to their dedicated servers. It states that KVM over IP service is a premium add-on service and it is available either in one-time monthly or 24 hour rental subscription periods.
KVM over IP gives the clients remote control to their dedicated server via an Internet gateway: they can install applications, run them and troubleshoot on a BIOS-level. Servers can be managed from anywhere in the world. Customers only need a keyboard, a mouse and a monitor to control their dedicated server in the same way they control their home desktop computer.

Dedicated hosting provider DediPower declared that Oculus, an integrated design and communications agency, to provide managed hosting requirements for a new website that underpins a major government education initiative in England.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families funded the CfBT Education Trust to build and manage an interactive website that aims to support the introduction and roll out of a new secondary school curriculum.
Oculus states that using this web site, a large number of teachers will be able to register, access and download information on the new curriculum that is being released, including video case study downloads of schools that are already executing the new curriculum. Teachers now can also plan their own curriculum requirements online via interactive tools, while providing a library of material to support best practice and links to information and source materials.
